Ian is from St. Mary’s First Nation and is a Fredericton-based Senior Manager at Deloitte.  He has a background in Application Development, Big Data and Social Analytics, and Instructional Design. Ian’s previous work with the Joint Economic Development Initiative consisted of leading multiple IT related programs including Mobile Application Development, Big Data & Data Analysis, and Cyber Security.  He has worked with academia, industry, government, and First Nation communities to identify training and skill gaps, develop, and deliver multiple programs for First Nations.

His work with First Nation Communities led to working with Kinap Solutions, Co-founded in 2018 with the goal of investigating the technology services ecosystem within Indigenous Communities and has the vision of a model where communities are included and supported to grow and flourish in the IT space.  The unique and transformational initiative proposed an indigenous owned and operated internet services program that drives true inclusion within IT.  The creation of sustainable jobs while enabling work-from-home and learn-from home opportunities are core deliverables.  This improves opportunities for companies to work with the Indigenous work force, given the development of the virtual world.

He aims to create more opportunities in First Nation communities and is focused on creating a formalized IT economy within First Nations through the creation of community owned business that enables the inclusion of all First Nations in the IT movement by implementing a strong, sustainable ecosystem.
